The stitching for the books I made was pretty close but it really holds the pages well together. I have given the pages a little rough treatment and they are holding fast. The glue also does a good job holding everything together. If I were you though I'd consider spraying the front cover paper in polyurethane to protect it though. These usually need specialized tooling and take a long time to master. I found this way to be very easy and the end finish looks great.
